You can make it really easy. 4dKH is made using RO water and baking soda. The indicator(color changer) is bromothymol blue which is the same indicator use in API pH test kit and many other pH test kits. The amount of color simply depends how many drops you add.

So I could add my 4Dkh pre mixed solution and 2 drops of my api ph test kit ?
I'm guessing the 4Dkh solution pre mixed is week to make it go further and max selling profit

yep. I'd test it with a small amount to be sure. But if its made with bromothymol blue(most are) there should be no difference. Usually 3-5 drops is recommended but some use more then that.

The cost is in the time and effort it takes to design and make the product, the contents isn't that expensive.
The colour will be personal preference :good:

Could be old stock. I have had a bottle for a while now, it was dark blue when I first received it but now it is nearly clear.

This is how it looks though the camera

I can live with it but would have liked it just a little thicker

As said mine was really blue when I got it. I would contact them and ask if its old stock as its not blue. You never know they might replace it!

I have and mine is really blue as well, they said to add more blue solution if you want a denser colour
