48Ltr (14Gallon?) Stocking Help

Just do some waterchanges :)

Also, i wouldnt advise getting plants until the third stage of the cycle, because otherwise you'll get incredible algae problems.

ok :) thanks for the advice :) just made my ammonia up. Bloody stinks in my prep room now hehe.

Should I 25% change every day fo the next couple of days? or one big one? (sorry for all the Q's)

I'd do one big one, but as you're only just starting your cycle, you could just leave it; depends on how much it's annoying you :)

any tips on clearing the bacteria bloom? water looks well disgusting this morning

If it is bothering you do a 100% water change and then redose with ammonia as needed. The bloom should clear in about 48 hours, if you do nothing.

Follow the link in my sig for the fishless cycle procedure...

Up your temp to 84F (29-30C)
Upping your pH can speed things along (8.4 - dose with some baking soda to raise the level, this also buffers the water against a pH crash down the line).
Increase the surface agitation of the water, to increase the oxygen levels in the tank.

right, just got in from work and it's no better... I've just added the ammonia and turned up my heater, so I'll see how it is by the weekend. If no better then I'll 50% water change it.

It's only bothering me because I'm worried its bad... not bothered about the looks as such as a) it's in my room so no1 but me sees it, and b) I don't have fish in there so I'm not worried I'm making them suffer. I'll increase surface agitation too and wait and see. I know it'll all be worth it in the end :)

oh, I used an online converter I found on another fish website, it came out at 13.9 gallons (thought it was easier to work at 14 because I'll understock anyway) thanks though
