I agree with George but like others say its personal choice if you go for a deep or shallow beds.
I used about 16kg in my tank (base of 5ft x 2ft) and think this is too much. I'm even thinking about taking 3-4kg out and see what it looks like after that. But I don't have anything that really needs the sand except my Cerith Snails.
