Well this is my first post on this forum, I've had a quick look around and looks like the place were I want to share my new discus setup

Well my name is Ian I've kept fish for a while now started like most with gold fish Then moved on to tropical and to discus. I kept discus for a few years and had some success got some breeding, but in the end the challenge of marines grow to strong and I've now had a reef tank for the last 18 months or so

But it's time for a change again can't afford to run a reef tank now I have a second child and about to past my test ( insurance what a killer)

Just before the brake down

So I've sold my beloved reef tank and raised the funds for my dream tank a Godiva executive 36 by 24 by 24 with a sump 32 by 15 by 15.

The kit will be

I will be running to t5 one tropical bulb for plant growth and one blue plus to hopefully give a nice colour this could all change though
I've got some tetra plant substrate The Argos play sand
An ocean runner 2500 for the return
two 150w heater controlled by my tc-10
Some mineral mud for a rufugium not sure which plants to use in it though
Filteration will be a filter sock, sponge, loads of bio balls, ceramics and then in the refugium
Got some really nice pieces of bogwood coming will get photos up ASAP

Hopefully adding some sort co2 equipment at later date

I only ordered the Godiva on Friday so 5 to 6 weeks and I'll have my new baby And I can't wait

Any more ideas on the kit I my need will be much appreciated
And i'll put up as many photo's as pos

I know it's all money mate, but you may find a newer car is cheaper to insure... I did when getting quotes.

Anyway, really looking forward to this setup, sounds excellent!

Looks like you did a great job on the reef tank, shame you had to call it a day but your new tank sounds very interesting and that first piece of wood inparticular looks fantastic.

Congrats on passing your test but £2000 insurance is ridiculous.

The tanks here

At last my tank as arrived, been really busy got most of the pluming in just got to wait for a few more bits to come which they forgot to send  but didn't forget to charge me for

May get a bit brighter once it's totally cleared

Put some filter start in there put a few pellets in as food for them, going test water ever day and do 20ltr water change and hopefully it my be ready for fish by the weekend

Looking good so far and will be great as a discus display already with that shape

Discus make a great display I have a big tank in my living room with them in and I love it

Looking good mate, I would love to be able to keep Discus. Such a 'show-off fish' IMO :p.

Lighting looks OK to me, but I'm no pro on it. Shouldn't have problems growing plants if thats what you wanted to do, maybe use fertz?

Cheers guys still think I my need more light but I think I'll get some plants in first and see how I go

Got co2 up and running So my pick some plants up in the next couple of days
