I was thinking of using a 4 stripe damsel to cycle my tank and I was wondering. How aggressive are they?

Hey man thanks for the info

Why would you want to use livestock to cycle your tank ??? :shout:

I actually did the same thing will my tank I got two of them. But after the tank was done cycling I took them back to the lfs because once they are in there for awhile they will get really aggressive.

Does that mean all damsels get aggressive?

they pretty much all get aggressive, but not to worry you dont need them to cycle your tank because the liverock will do it all on its own so you dont need to waste your money

Or MORE important than saving a couple of $ you dont need to put the fish throught a cycle :grr: :grr:

Of course i don't think its right to use a fish to cycle the tank but that point was already brought up so i thought i would try a different angle, also you have to remember back when you first started in saltwater its easy to take the recommendation from the fish stores because you don't know another way so your little faces are un called for i was just trying to help him realize it is uneccessary to use the fish and i don't appreciate the snotty remarks were all just here to help!Chac

I take everything I am told by my LFS with a pinch of salt, for example, yes a Copperband would be fine in a 15g NEW Setup or No Racoon Butterfly's aint pickie eaters, instead I do a bit of reasearch in to the subject & if I run in to any issues I struggle with then I ask online iether here or 1 of the other forum's I am a member of, but I have noticed that reasearch is becoming more a thing that some newbie's only do when there is an issue/problem instead of learning all they can before they fill there tank & that buying a Disposable $6.00 damsel seems to be getting the accepted way of cycling a tank

Only problems happen fast in Marine Reefkeeping
