Hopefully I can get the 3ft (3x12x12) setup after Crimbo. I'm not planning anything high-tech- probably bare bottom, large air powered filter if it will be enough to cope with the waste, as few 'decorations' as possible. Anyway. I either want a single large fish or a breeding pair of fish. Requirements are..
For single fish-
Obviously, has to fit in the tank
Be 'interesting', ie, personable
Preferably an oddball or rare fish

For breeding pair-
Be of a species that I will be able to sell at least a few of, either to lfs's or other hobbyists
Because of the above, obviously not common fish like cons, angels, whatever

Any ideas?

if you was willing to push to a bet of a larger tank try a clown knife fish, or black ghost knife both nice fish

they can be agressive as all snakeheads are and i would not put them in a tank with any other fish as they will nip the hell out of them a 24x18x12 should be fine for a pair i should think and obviously this should be a single species tank only

Yeah snakeheads will get on fine with bettas and praecox rainbows, they love to give them big squidgy hugs with their mouths full of teeth.

How about a couple of nice sail fin mollies feeshy :p

Indeed, I'd like a pair of Channa bleheri but the cost of six+ individuals to guarentee a pair is too much really...

Bump.

I'm asking my LFS if they can get me anything in and roughly how much it would be, thus far I've asked about either 6 bleheri or gachua, a chaca (for another tank), but no idea what else to ask about. Any more contributions?

Rainbow Wolf fish! (Erythrinus Erythrinus)
Throw in some danios or something with it, Mine doesnt go for the little convicts his tank. Although now and then one dissappears....
You could probably find some less expensive fish to share the tank with him. Pleco, other small armored catfish...
