im seriously tempted to get 1 of these 3d backgrounds
big_amazontree_15.jpg

i would want to hide the filter intakes etc behind it , but i can see circulation of water getting behind the background etc being a problem. best idea ive had so far is to drill a hole say around 30mm diameter each end with a plastic mesh cover to allow water to flow in/out.

has anybody done this and if so , any tips or advice?

I am currently looking to do the same and have done some reading and it seems you can just drill it. Where are you able to get the background from though I can't seem to find any sensible suppliers.

Instructions I found are at http://www.backtonature.se/english/montera_amazonas.html

this is the only place in england i could find this make .

How about drilling the hole the same size as the intake tube, take it down the back of i,t put an elbow on it and have just the cap sticking out will be easy to hide and no circulation problems.

Mark, have you followed through on this thought, buying and installing the 3D background?

Looks wise, I think these look far more intresting and natural for both us keepers and the fish, but I worry about how much volume of the tank is eliminated by these internal scapes.
