I couldnt agree with you more thats shocked you these 'special days' muck up my routine and cause me loads more work, i want a good old fashioned weekend, mooching and doing nothing on Saturdays and then on Sunday more mooching and doing my tanks........me, selfish surely not, so, if you are banning Mothers day Woody, can we also at the same time ban Fathers day

Messed my weekend up as I had to go home to see my mum and leave my new tank that had arrived Had so much to do and get back to late to do any of it!!! Although my BF had done it for me when I got back got him trained haha

I think we would all like to have more time to make the people who are important to us feel special but between, Jobs, chores, fish tank maintenance ect ect, it don't always happen. I think that most peoples contempt for these sort of holidays and other holidays has been bred out of how commercialized these events have become.

I think we would all like to have more time to make the people who are important to us feel special but between, Jobs, chores, fish tank maintenance ect ect, it don't always happen. I think that most peoples contempt for these sort of holidays and other holidays has been bred out of how commercialized these events have become.

I've always wondered why treating moms well and like they're special needs to be confined to one day ... if we were treated nicely every day we wouldn't need a Mother's (or Father's) Day! It's all just to put more money in retailer's pockets.

Woody sounds like you got it easy mate. My Mrs parents seperated many years ago so she has two complete families half brothers, half sisters and step parents she is close to so thats extra Birthdays, 3 Mothers Day visits, 3 Fathers Day visits, 3 families to keep happy at Christmas.

My run up to a relaxing weekend started Thursday - day off, took my 3 yr old to Build a bear workshop to make a teddy for Mummy. Came back home, took 200 kilos of rock out of Mbuna tank, chased 35 fish around and bagged them. Drove 25 miles to drop them off, went and dropped of breeding pair of Afras. Thursday night emptied tank, found a catfish and another 10 babies hiding caught and re-homed them, cleaned tank, lights, covers, and emptied the cupboards and drawer.

Friday work 7-5. Home to clean FX5 to be picked up at 7. phone call from guy who bought tank, went and got kebab. Helped load tank into van, ended the evening £200 richer so made up for it being 10pm by the time I finished.

Saturday - Went to builders merchant, cut 2 railway sleepers to desired shape and size, went shopping for Mothers day meal, bought the worlds biggest plant pot got it in car (with help) came home and moved pot (no help available so just struggled) moved and set sleepers. Sister in Laws birthday so then took daughter to my parents, got ready, went for meal, went to party.

Sunday - Cooked Pork Roast and all the trimmings for 7. Finally did tank maintenance at 8.30pm.

I love those quiet weekends. Was trying to work out why I was tired earlier?

Why can't we have mothers day on a bloomin monday............When i'm at work!

Nooooooo! Moving it would just push everything later in the day until after work, so you'd have to do it all while crankier than normal because you really just wanted to go straight to sleep. Not that I speak from experience or anything...

Surely the solution here is to eliminte all holidays and replace them with more evenly and conveniently distributed LFS days.

Now there is an idea!!! Maybe we could insert a day into the week, just for us fish keepers. Between Wednesday and Thursday.... Called fishday (how original am I!)

Have to say i'm quite suprised from the ladies comments on here! You love your fish more than yer own mothers! lol!

Any women that loves fish keeping and is enthusiastic about it as I am, is, in my eyes, a perfect, beautiful female that would make any man happy!........................See what i'm doing guys!......sucking back up to em!
