30cm (length) x 18cm(width) x 8cm (height)

Did you make a mistaken typing? Her is what you type. a tank 30cm x 18cm x 8cm

By the way, do you think the extra weight will effect the overall strength of the aquarium?

The section in question is that plastic rectangle in the centre. Will it cause too much pressure on the sides?

Get a new 2.5 gallon tank for the betta. That is not a tank. LOL  My mother will throw away the water and forgeting there is a betta in there. LOL :D

Looks a bit shallow for a betta and to get to the 8cm looks like you are going to have to place the water level pretty high. A betta might jump out.

Am more used to LxWxH myself. But that is how they designated it at the link I posted so I used the same designation for this port.

Tank Width: The width of an aquarium is the distance across the front. (L)
Tank Height: The hieght of an aquarium is the distance from top to bottom. (H)
Tank Depth: The depth of an aquarium is the distance from front to back. (W)

Good lord, you should've told me you wanted a betta when you were here on Saturday! You could've taken that divided tank I had and done whatever with it. ..I brought it back with me and gave it to Abby though.

Although you could get the critter keeper like I have.. it's $8. Remember the one with Mai Tai, and the black lid? A lot easier than running a betta tank off your sump..

It is a bit shallow really. And as someone else mentioned, you need a lid or betta will jump. Have you got many bottomfeeders? Maybe you could grow algae in it.
