3 To 1

If you are thinking of breeding them then that's fine, but you must watch them at all times. If you are thinking of just keeping 3 females with one male just for the look or something, well as end said," Tragedy." The females will eventualy kill the male or the male is going to have a field day with the females. If you want to keep multiple bettas in one tank you have two options, I recommend that are safe. 1. Buy a big tank and divide spaces for each one or 2. Buy atleast a 10 gallon with lots of plants and or hidding places and keep 4 females in it (4 females is the best number, they will keep each other in perfect blance.) Hope this helps.

are you sure about the females killing the male?
maybe if hes a weenie and theyre chyna bettas or something.. :dunno:

personally iw wouldnt put any combination of males and females together unless to breed. im not saying it cant be done though. sorrell has a male/female tank. ask her.

Actually, Sorrell has an all female tank, no boys allowed :p I wouldn't risk it. I have girls that would kill a male straight off and I have other males who wouldn't stand for any girls. Depends on the fish I guess, but they are so unpredictable, I just wouldn't risk it.

Yes, I am very sure of this, it's a know fact that some females with kick the males butt or even kill them. Once I tried to breed a Mustard Yellow crownie, with a female I had. It wasnt a pretty sight when I let the female go. The female clamped unto the crownies back fin and wouldnt let go. The male was trying to shake her off for the longest time, finaly I steped in and said enough, the male started gasping hard for the longest time. I never belived it till I saw it with my own eyes.

When I was 8 :dunno: They harrassed each other I remember, but I don't remember what happened to them. It was a long time ago ;)

Betta's just to clear any confusion up by the way.

So it's alright to keep 3 females together tho and the male seperate.

Also this will sound stupid and I can't think of another way to put it... How do you tell the difference between male and female betta's. Cos I got 3 young females well wot I think are females but one of them has long fins but not massive like adult males (they're oni ikle babies).

you just had a mean female.
i had one beat the poopoo out of her spawning mate and they were never able to spawn but its usually the other way around :(

thats not the norm and just because you put 1 male with 3 females doesnt mean they are going to kill him.
i still agree that its not a good idea to do-just not for that reason...
