I bought 3 shrimp labelled as ghost shrimp, two juvenilles one adult, one of the juvenilles looks different to the other two however, it has the same colour (or non colour) but has a straight body opposed to the bent ones of the other two normal ghost shrimp. It also seems to have a more promenant black line down its body, but i'm only talking a millimeter thick, nothing like a stripe.
Have i picked up a different type of shrimp? Is one female/male?Is one just older than the other?

Thank you.

The shrimp were from petsathome.
And yes...it looks like that! So i have one amano and two ghost shrimp. Not bad, i've never seen amano around here for sale.

They can survive on catfish algae pellets right?

Yep.
My girlfriend bought a ghost shrimp a year ago and it's still alive...so i saw no reason why not to.

From your reaction im thinkin petsathome doesn't have the best reputation?

mine is a top shop, well for stock anyway. but gives the same duff tripe out as many LFS do. but there are Crayfish keepers and newt keepers on the staff, so all is not lost. depends on the branch, but i will give a Big shout out to the Leicester branch

I wasn't too impressed with thier shrimp stocking. They had long arm shrimp being sold as peaceful dwarf shrimp last time i was in there. Its peaceful until it kills everything else

From what i have read this has happened a few times at various stores and is probably why phil2m gulped!

i must admit to never having seem amy longarmed shrimp there, though there are some ghost and amino on occasions. how long ago was that?
just shows how different the experiences of two people can be in one shop.

I think the last time i saw them there was in october, although i think that was the last time i went in. Their fish always looked ok, its just their shrimp i wasn't too impressed with!

Well, I know an LFS that also sells long-arm (whatever species) shrimps together with amanos all in the same tank and maybe some more species, too. But they admit not to know what they are and only know them as "tropical shrimps". They also don't know the species of the marine shrimps they're selling.
