Hey guys.

As you know, I'm moving my Betta's into bigger tanks/bowls soon. I have two new homes I am going to be using...one of them is a 1 gallon bowl (I think it may be bigger than that though) and a 3 gallon. The thing with the 3 gallon home is....it's a water jug. You know, those big jugs you buy from the store. It's almost empty, so I was thinking once it is empty all the way....I could clean it, cut the top of it to make a larger opening, and that'll one of my Bett'as new home. Would that be ok, or no? And if I did do this, wouldn't it be super hard to change the water?

Thanks. :)

And, would the 3 gallon water jug need filteration or heating? I don't think I could get either....but to keep the water warm in the 3 galllon would I be able to just use a heating pad to warm it up?

I was thinking of having Sushi in the big 3 gallon, because he likes his room. Toby seems to feel more cosy in smaller areas, so I think I'll keep him in the other bowl. I still don't know how big it is! Maybe I'll take a picture of it later and you can tell me how many gallons it can hold. ;)

You will need something to use as a top though

I thought you said your parents were going to buy you actual tanks?

I know. I am going to find tops for both tanks.

They were, and we were going to go and get two on Tuesday when I came home from school. But......I thought, "Hey, why don't I find something to use as a tank so I'll be able to save my parents money?" or something along that line. Thats when I realised the 3 gallon water jug would work perfectly with a lid. So thats what I'm set on using! :) My parents were happy to hear it....well, at least my mom was...:D

A heating pad will work fine.. Though you need a thermometer to judge the water he's in to monitor it.
And yes, have a lid of some kind.
Bettas are awesome jumpers and if he clears that edge, he lands on the floor and if you're not there to see him, he'll dry out and die.

Of course. I have a thermometer that I'm going to use, but I only have one. So I'm going to have to buy another.

Lol, yes, they are awsome jumpers. Today I was cleaning their bowls and Toby jumped right onto the counter when I was putting him back in. I had to quickly pick him up and drop him in. It was the biggest scare ever! :D

Oh...ok

I was very pleased when I thought you were getting them actual tanks

One of them is an actual tank....well....bowl, but it's bigger. Probably a gallon or more. And besides...by using the water jug it'll be saving money and it'll work just as good.

What's your hang up with money? Everytime you post there is something about saving money and cost

Someone your age (I'm assuming youre a younger teen; sorry if I'm incorrect) shouldn't worry about money so much lol

Oh, and I'm just yanking your chain...so don't get mad ;)

I'm 11 if you must know....and my parents have bought me a lot of stuff lately and I just HATE asking them to buy me new stuff....even if it's for my fish.

And I would pay with the money in my bank account but I don't have that much and I'm saving up for something. Sorry if I seem to be so worried about money, but it IS an issue.

You're 11?
Are you even allowed on the internet without constant adult supervision?

Lol, teasing, but seriously, you type well for an 11 year old.

I completely understand the issue with money, I remember when I was about your age I was a bit of a money rat... I bet my parents wished I was a bit like you. Anyhow, as long as it actually holds water it's fine, maybe you can use it until you can buy a better tank. ;) You'll get there.

Thanks. :p I am a very good typer, and I support good spelling and grammer.
I don't need supervision, as my parents trust me with the internet. ;)

I feel so young on here, being surrounded with older and more professional people. :)

Heehee, lol! It does hold water perfectly fine, so I should be good.
I will eventually buy a better tank but for right now I'm going to use what I have. :)

Oh, I know that you don't care. I was just putting it out there. ;) Well, I got permission. But anyhow....

Oh really? :p I didn't know thats what it meant. My bad!

Yes, ok, I spell the odd word wrong. I'm no perfect speller!

Permission from the admin/owners? Or your parents?

If the admin/owners don't know you're here, they are liable since youre under the age limit (if there is one)

I'm not picking on you, just letting you know :)
