My last angelfish lost its battle with fin rot last month. I suspected that he got infected by the newly-added angelfish that I got. After the death, I immediately quarantined the new angelfish in a a hospital tank for a month. He seemed fine so I put him in the main tank. He was healthy and perky but yesterday, he looks bad again. I don't trust my test kits anymore since they're very old so I've brought some water samples to the LFS. They'll give me the results later today or tomorrow.

Strangely, the fin rot effects have only been affecting my angels.

I think b.c they have more ornate fins, they are more susceptible to fin rot. But it's still in your tank. Once in your tank, it's in the water and you have to treat the tank, not take the infected fish out and treat them separately. In the meantime, i would add some salt to help.

Fin rot has a cause. It is usually bacterial or fungal with the former being more common. Since I do not know where the OP is from I will not suggest specific meds as I do not know whether they would be available. However, I would suggest if you can find a good antibiotic med for fin rot that you use that.

Very sound advice I think TTA.

I would also advise treating the tank too... and making sure you dont have any fin nippers in there too!
