2Ft - 15 Gallon Planted Tank

I really like your tank, wish I could have livebearers. My water is pretty soft when all is said and done, so it's probably not in the cards...so post lots of pics so I can live vicariously through your tank!!

Thanks, I'll try and keep the photo's updated :)

More photo's! :p

Tank - 18th March 15.

And some sort of half decent livebearer photo's for jag51186 ;) Livebearers are not easy to photograph lol.

I resorted to using flash on the fish to get slightly more decent photo's of them! XD

So here they are

I wanted to properly introduce this girl.
I got her last year with two other females like her. The other two females have since died but this girl is still going strong despite her appearance. I have no idea how old her and the other two females were but I do know they were all severely inbred. The reason I know this is because they were all taken to a shop by a woman... Who explained her mother started off with 5 guppies and over the years that had turned into "something like 500" and her mother was too old to do anything so it was her job. And because of this the guppies had bred and inbred and inbred again and again.... So the three females I got were probably auntie's to each other as well as sisters and mothers lol.
Anyway, she has looked like this for a good 3-4 months now. She no longer gets pregnant but she is the boss guppy in the tank, bosses all the other guppies about. She eats everynight, especially bloodworm nights. She swims easily but never heals even though she's in clean water. She's a mystery really. But strong all the same. I expect her appearance is something to do with being extremely inbred.

Looks good, your photos are great and I love your special female guppy story. She looks well for her age etc. Platies are fun happy fish, it has been many, many years since I had any form of live bearers, but did find the platies great fun.

I do love my platies :) Although my Red Wag boy seems to prefer his own kind... He has two Red Wag females, a Calico female and a Tuxedo female. Now, the two Red Wags are definitely carrying, the Calico appears to be but the Tuxedo hasn't changed at all since being put in on the 5th March.

Anyway! Yep, more photo's :p I did another trim last night(Sunday) to try and even out the growth and fill in some gaps near the back behind the wood... So far everything seems good.

My Nymphoides that I kept in this tank is sending more babies off. Not long before I can separate them from the mother plant and grow them on.

Just for anyone interested, this is the 5.5 gallon that I temporarily set up that my fiancé is having so it won't be staying like this for long but I wanted to share the progress in the short amount of time.

There's some brown algae on the rocks but that I was expecting as I am doing a basic set up with a 30w 6500k LED spotlight(Arcadia Eco Aqua 30w LED) lol. My fiancé plans some higher light demanding plants with more density :)

This is from the 28th March. Excuse the Crypt attempting to fly at the front lol.

And here's another lily baby spawning from the "mother plant"....

(Excuse the little bit of dirt on the lily, was wiped off after I noticed it in the photo)

I have some sad news though, I noticed I haven't seen my black tailed female guppy for a few days.... And I can't find a body so I assume she died and was cleaned up(I do have loads of shrimp, a farlowella and oto's) or has jumped down the back of the tank(though there is a wire lid so she would have to have her positioning perfect) which I won't know about as I can't pull the unit out to see :/ So unfortunately she appears to have gone missing.

Last night I spent about an hour, maybe more, thinning out plants and other stuff.
Total list of what I did:-
Thinned out my big Nymphoides as it was getting a bit full.
Moved my recently discovered TWO Nymphoides back from the 5.5 gal to my 2ft to grow again as they started failing in the 5.5 gal.
Moved two Nymphoides plantlets to the front of the 2ft, one from the 5.5 and one off my largest Nymphoides.
Moved over the four Stargrass stems from the 5.5 to the 2ft.
Moved over the three Limnophila stems from the 5.5 to the 2ft.
Moved three smaller Crypts from the 2ft to the 5.5 gal.
Changed the bulbs on the 2ft so they are both white daylight as the plant pro has worn out now(over 12 months old) and made the plants look yellow.
Trimmed one of the Hygrophila stems down as it was reaching the surface.
Switched the two filters to opposite sides to try and direct the flow a bit better.
Moved the heater slightly.
Moved my harassed female Red Wag platy over to the 5.5 for a bit to see if the male notices the other females.

I think that's about it XD Anyway, here's the compulsory photo lol.

its filling up nicely, plants look very healthy

Thanks :) It's grown again since that photo but I think now I have all my gaps filled I'll leave the plants to grow and trim them when they reach the surface. No trimming for a bit for me! XD

Nice tank.

I love tanks with lots of live plants

A FTS from tonight :)

I have a few nipped tails as two female guppies decided to go all out on each other for no known reason last night and now both have chunks missing! Clean water and they should heal fine though :)

Looks so good!! And crystal clear! I'm jealous!

Thanks :) I am having a bit of trouble with the Stargrass on the far left hand side though unfortunately. Some of it is growing amazingly but some of it is just dying off :/
