29g tank - not that happy...

You will love the Tidal. I have two of the Tidal 75 and your right the media compartment is huge. It comes with media, but I always put some more in so you should be able to get a bunch of your current media in there too. Plus maintenance is easy , love how the basket sits on the lid to transport to the sink for cleaning.

Also have a couple of the nicrew (1st gen planted) lights and love them.

The light may not have enough red spectrum in it, it looks very white to me.
It’s literally just a light bulb, so I wouldn’t be surprised...

Awesome! I’m pumped to finally be getting a good quality filter. ?

Should come in tomorrow, although I won’t be able to set it up until after work.

My plants all do well in my 29 gallons. I think your lighting may be a large part of the problem. Congrats on new filter and sorry about your Cory.

OK, I know I need more finances*, but I still have a plan on what’s going to come next
  1. Seachem Tidal 35 Filter (on the way)
  2. Nicrew Gen2
  3. More Neon Tetras (currently other have 2, and they could use some friends)
  4. More plants (no like, real plants, not just Java moss and Anacharis)
*My work is sort of weird in the way they pay us... it’s like they delay my pay check for 2 weeks. That means I’ve already worked the work for the money, they just haven’t payed me yet.

Please don’t take offense as I’m only trying to help you, my friend. No more anacharis, IMO. It’s kind of all you see. Branch out. You need to ditch a lot of your anacharis and get a variety. Try some swords, crypts, or octopus plants. Perhaps some narrow leaf vals in back. No offense but when I look at your tanks they are all the same. Just bunches of anacharis. JMO ?‍♀️

That’s why I said “real plants”, not just Java moss and Anacharis. I’m sick of both to me honest, as that’s all my 29g is made up of.

Have you seen what my tank is made out of?

Yeah....I’m sick of it either that’s why I made an aquascaping thread...

I would recommend crypts. Other than the notorious 'crypt melt' which can happen, they're so easy to care for and there's some lovely looking varieties. I've just got into them myself to be honest. Recently ripped out my vallis jungle and put some crypt crispulata and balansae in it's place. With crypts you can do a full scape from front to back as there are short/mid/long growing types.

Seachem Tidal 35 arrived today! So pumped to get it setup and in the tank:

I have 2 different kinds of crypts in my 20g long and I do like them, but they aren’t that big.

What plants are in your signature tank, in the back left and front right corners? I need some tall plants like that.

Back left is a sword, Echinodorus bleheri. Theres some bogwood in front of it with trident java fern attached. Then in front of the wood I ended up with crypt wendtii (brown) and Alternanthera reineckii 'mini' to the side.

On the opposite side at the front is some siamensis 53b
