ok...ive decided to re-do my 29 Gallon and i need some ideas! something really active perhaps another type of cichlid...shell dwellers or dwarfs but i have no idea where to start all ideas will be considerd! something that will catch ones eye plants...rocks..and some wood will be at my disposal just need ideas! pictures will be made available upon the day i start.....but...i still need inspiration!

Neons aren't the best fish for a restart, they're sensitive fish... You could try smaller cichlids such as Rams, Cockatoos and arcads, or you could start a simple community set-up with live bearers... Another interesting set up would be some convict cichlids, not that may oviously, about 4 should be okay, but make sure to get 1 male and 3 females if you do... that way you have minimal agression and lots of breeding... which hopfully you'll be able to sell the young to you LFS lol :p

How about gouramis. The dwarf kinds? I think their a nice colorful fish, and often community-like.
What about corydoras for the bottom then...

Smaller types of loaches are pretty active, work well for most communities (unless you're using inverts), and are another option for bottom fish. And most tetras are active, hardy, pretty, and work well in groups...though they can be a bit nippy.

I really like rosy barbs - active, bright colors, come in an attractive longfinned form, and will eat just about anything you throw in the tank, granted it's small enough, haha.
