270l Marine Tank Stripped Down!

As Ben said earlier, very quick heavy stocking for such a new tank - your corals don't look very happy and you have two pairs damsels which in the end will fight! you really need to decide which pair you are going to keep and then rehome the other pair. As Ben also said the tang needs a bigger tank with more swimming room!

I am curious how you have managed to cycle a tank without getting any spikes of ammonia, nitrites and then nitrates? Did you get everything from an established tank with very little travel time out of the water?

Tank is looking nice, but ensure you keep on top of testing because if you didn't get everything from an established tank then sures as eggs is eggs you are going to get some spikes that will require fast water changes or you will lose your livestock :good:

Looking forward to watching your tank develop

The liverock was taken from my LFS's livestock tank so it was fully mature and the drive was only 10mins away. I also used live sand as well, what do you mean by two pairs of damsels? As I only have one pair!

My firefish seemed the same a yours ben as it was very skittish and always was hiding at the back of the tank, he was a shy feeder as well but I always made sure he got some. Strange. I may also buy a few fish in a couple of weeks time as well. I am making sure all of the water parameters are fine and doing a 25% water change with salted RO water every sunday, but when I get more fish I will probably do them more frequently.

UPDATE: Went to Select Aquatics a week ago and bought 5 chromis (green). They have all settled in fine and feeding well. I have also added a new pump to the tank as well (koralia nano).

It is going to be soft corals from now on. Ill see if I can swap my hard corals for some soft ones, as my LFS is very good with that, as long as they are of a decent quality.

Added a small finger leather coral and mushroom yesterday as well as some more lighting, 18w high output marine bulb and controller for £30. It seems to make the tank look so much brighter!

Well the tank has been stripped down...

All the fish were taken to the fish shop where I workand kept there until I get the new tank, which I will talk about later.

I decided to take it down as the tank didn't fit the room as it was the wrong shape, as I prefer long thin tanks. I also didn't like the skimmer and having to see everthing inside. I looked naff to be honest. :/ Going to sell the tank and hopefully do something mega...

Well the plan is to get rid of a huge chest of draws in a alcove which is around 6-7ftlong and which touches the ceiling. The plan is that the tank will be 6ftx3ftx2ft which works out at around 1000L(224 imperial gallons). They are not the exact measurments but it will be around that big. :D It should hopefully happen in the next 4-6months!

I am soo excited!!! :yahoo:
