24hr/day light - how do plants/fish react?

I have a tank on my desk in my office and I don't know if the lights are turned off of a night. How will the plants and fish react to having light 24hr a day?

it's not natural for the plants - they actually need time for respiration. most life does well in life-like simulation (aka day and night). algae will also thrive in this environment ... quickly thrive

Good suggestion for in your home ... but office lights are generally not plugged in to outlets

I agree that it is important for fish to have "sleep" time. You might try getting a heavy throw/blanket to put over the aquarium at night so that they have some down time....similar to what you do with parrots.
