240L Planted Sa Cichlid Tank.

Are you sure its not a complete fertiliser? Everything I've read seems to suggest it is?
Lighting is 2x T8's without reflectors, I added reflectors but immediately got hair algae problems, so took them off again.
Balance is the key, I 100% agree with that, finding it and maintaining it are what we strive for :good:

90% sure mate... this was a quick quote from TGM and also from the link you posted....

Of course ProFito does not contain nitrate or phosphate.

Which suggests that it contains no macro nutrients.

I may be wrong, Ian has used this, im sure he will chime in at some point ;)

Hmm ok fair point, but nitrate is supplied via excrement right? And I seem to remember that phosphate is an algae trigger..? Although I do admit a lot has changed in the last 5 years or so regarding that sort of thing. The bottle has extra complete written on it too! Oh I dunno...! haha!

this tank looks awesome but imo would look even better without the background.

Jakes right, Profito doesn't contain n and p :good:

Your right but the amount needed for a heavily planted tank will usually mean a very high stocked tank and even this may not be sufficient which then plants end up lacking certain elements... lacking of nutrients will cause algae, not the addition of extra.

Algae is triggered by plants not being healthy, this can be caused by numerous things and not by adding a particular fert or excess amounts of it :good:.

There are many discussions regarding algae and why it is triggered on ukaps, have a read through ceg's (clive's) post and it will pretty much explain everything :good:.... im useless at trying to explain the science side of things
