so previous i owned 2 oscars along time ago. and as of recent my daughter who is 4 wanted to get a pet and decided that i enjoyed fish so much i would let her get a tank. the tank is all cycled and ready to go. as of right now we have 3 mickey mouse platy's in it. i dont have much experience in smaller fish as i couldnt have any in with my 2 12in oscars for obvious reasons. as stated the tank is only 20 gallons. any suggestions on things that may go well with this tank?

on a side note, is this tank too small for some sort of carnivorous fish, might not to hate to eat feeders but maybe snails like a small loach? I fear the tank might be a little to small but i do miss seeing the fish hunt at feeding time. dropping 10 feeders into my oscar tank was really a sight to see.

Bit small for any predators that could go into community tank really...

I'd maybe look at pygmy corys (C. pygmaeus or C. habrosus), gobies (Stiphodon sp) and the only loach i know that stays really tiny and i know the name of is the Laos Multibar Loach (Yunnanilus cruciatus).

That will give you a couple of ideas of slightly more funky small fish...

And there are so many shoaling fish that yu are spoilt for choice, lots of tetras and rasbora species...

Or you can stick with brightly coloured fish for your kid and get a few male guppies!

:good:

a nice bristlenose would be could for keeping the tank, sunset fire wag platies are a good pic for a kid

Although a few Hatchetfish are small and unique as top swimmers, then the platies you have and finally some cories on bottom
