Have a 20 gallon long. After it finished cycling, I added 6 gold skirt tetras. Does anyone have good ideas for fish, as well as easy plants? (Low light)

What's your GH and PH?

Anubias Nana attached to rocks or driftwood (don't bury rhizome. Also Hygrophilia difformis and jungle val (substrate plants)

I hope you enter your 20 gallon in our October Tank of the Month contest which will feature tanks sized at 17 to 29 US gallons.

you can choose either corydoras or kuhli loaches for the bottom level :D

With skirt tetras though, I just suggest adding maybe 2 or 3 more and call the upper level stocked, with them only. Bigger shoal of them is a really nice display tbh.

How many inches of sand is recommended for corys? I’ve never owned them. I only have a thin layer in there right now.

A thin layer is fine for cories. Not so good for plants though as keeping them rooted is challenging. I have around 1.5" on average. Ideally don't go beyond 2" average depth as that is more likely to cause anaerobic pockets. These can cause problems when disturbed (the foul sulphuric acid smelling stuff)

a thin layer is just fine :)

Enough to keep plants rooted securely though. Cories are diggers lol

Crypts, ferns, anubius, hygro, all do well in low light. Even in low light plants will still need fertlizer. For rooted plants get some root tabs for floating or rhizome plants like ferns anubius get a comprehensive liquid fert like seachem flourish and dose carefully.
