I have a male that was shipped to me sick about 3 weeks ago. I believe he has velvet. Looks like he was dusted with pollen. Still eating, bus doesn't move much. Looks almost dead, but has looked that way for 2 weeks. Could it be any thing else? I'm sure it isn't ick. I have tried everything I can think of. He is still alive, but doesn't seem to be getting any better. I have: Copper safe, Maracyn, and Fungus clear. Should I try something else? How long does it take to get rid of?

I rescued a sick better last week. He had what looked like Columnaris. I treated him, and now has no more fur. Now he seems to hang in the water a bt, spends a lot of time at the bottom, and seems to twitch once a min. or so. He is not scratching on anything, and is eating, and flaring. What could it be, what do I treat him with?

Hi!
For the first guy - I'd pick up some maracide. Sounds like he has velvet or could be parasites. You wouldn't see the velvet unless you used a flashlight, and it would look like someone spraypainted him w/gold paint. If you can see white dustings with the naked eye, it's either ick or parasites. You can kick it REALLY quickly by boosting the temps up to about 84 degrees and treating him with maracide.

And as for the second one, hmm - I"m not sure. I wonder if he could have an internal infection or something? Anything else you can tell us about him? What is his temperature like?

What size tanks do both of your guys have?
Temps? What do they eat? And how often do you do water changes?

Yes, I used a flashlight. It isn't white. it's Yellow/gold.

They are in 1/2 gallon each. Only because they are mostly at the bottom. I don't want to stress them out with the struggle for air. Water temp is 76-80. They eat:
Hikari Betta Bio-Gold baby pellets, frozen blodworms, frozen brine shrimp, and frozen veggies w/peas.

They are still eating with no problem. I change the water every 2 days. I just changed it again yesterday So this week it is: Sat, Tues, Fri, Then Mon.
