I am about to buy a 10 gallon tank. Would it be better if I bought a power filter and an internal filter (possibly PENGUIN MINI WITH BIO-WHEEL - Certified Flow: 100GPH and FLUVAL 1 "PLUS" UNDERWATER FILTER: 50 GPH) or just one filter, such as HOT MAGNUM PRO SYSTEM - H.O.T. MAGNUM PRO SYSTEM or EMPEROR 280 WITH BIO-WHEEL?

for a ten gallon, a simple whisper 100 would do. Nice and cheap too, round 10 bucks. But it would be better to buy a 200 just so that the water will be extra clean :) good luck

One really good one: HMF, something in english. Sorry in english version is only from Googles temporary memory, bacause the page doesn't exist more :( It was only pages in english about HMF..

For a 10 gallon how about a fluval plus 2
I've got one in my eleven gallon it keeps it super clean
I've actually got my Fluval 2 in my 120 litre Juwel tank at the moment, plus a sponge filter (the main filter in there died during the Great Heatwave Catastrophe). Amazingly, it seems to be coping, at least until I can get a replacement! (admittedly, the tank is lightly stocked).

I know with planted tanks you can actually manage without any filtration at all, so I do suspect that lightly planted tanks could probably manage with a heck of lot less filtration than is generally assumed.

I'd go for a Fluval 2 for a 10 gal, or maybe one of those new thermofilters, as that would save money on buying a heater as well. More than that would probably over-kill.
