Firstly I have to say so many thanks to Larissa for the two stunning and wonderful female Bettas she gave me this afternoon. If I can ever return the favour in any way, just let me know :D If you want to part with any more, give me a shout (i'll pay for them of course).

They are settling in nicely to the 2' fry tank. Once the fry are all gone (in a week or two) it will be re-decorated especially for them.

I'll get some pics later on once they have chilled out and it's a bit darker outside as there are a lot of reflections on the glass right now which my camera doesn't like.

Again, many unlimited thanks hun

No worries Steve :D glad you like them and they are settling in well, they should grow up to be nice bettas  keep me posted on their progress!
:good:

P.S their mum ( Tallulah ) is my Avatar :)

Well, i've managed to catch one of the girlies in focus so far.

I've since put a complete substrate in and some nice fluffy Camboba.

Great pics Steve :good: hopefully their colours should start coming out soon, they are being a bit wimpy at the mo ;) it's amazing how quick they can change colour, it's as quick as a chameleon, they can be hiding under some weed and be nice and blue and then come out in the open and voom it's all gone!

Well, I left the wife to take some pics - her camera keeps telling me i'm shaking and it takes blurry pictures :grr:

She has also taken the liberty of naming them

Here is Fifi

And here is Trixabelle

Fifi seems to love the top half of the tank and Trixi prefers hoovering round the gravel. I guess they have just decided on their territory

Many thanks again hun for these two wonderful girls - you're a 5* legend :good:

WOWzers they look exactly what Kacie (RIP) and Brodie (gave to my grandparents) look like! They're adorable!

Lucky smegforbrains!
They are absolutely adorable.
And evidently being baby sisters, shouldn't have the usual problems produced by keeping only two betta girls together.
Did you actually put them in with fry?
Did any survive or were they big enough (shark fry?) to avoid being dinner?
Or is that a tactless line of questioning?

Edit: you're probably fine with those lovely little river rocks, but thought I'd mention that I had some I loved in one tank but had to remove quite early on as they would obviously have caused water quality issues, what with food, dead plant matter and poop slipping right between rocks to be trapped below.
Bettas will get any food that hits the ground, but can't move rocks to get them and it doesn't take much sliding under to make you nervous and potentially cause problems.
That and I thought it not only a pain but disruptive for my fish to be always moving the rocks and potted plants around trying to clean underneath, with much larger water changes required.
Of course, your betta girls can take higher filtration than my male betta in that tank, who had to have his down to a trickle.
Have you tried these or similar rocks before?
Because I know lots of people use them and have no problem under high filtration.
Unfortunately, bettas generally do.

The fry are a bit big for the girls' mouths :D

And there's a Platy in there the size of a golf ball and ready to drop as well.

The girls don't seem at all bothered or interested in the fry - result!

Super. Female bettas do tend to be pretty efficient little huntresses, and I'd have figured they'd have treated fry as live food.
So I'm glad they didn't view yours that way.
You probably got the very nicest-natured and pacific bettas in the spawn, as well as the cutest.
Good going.
