Okay, in mid-late august I bred my female Sally (the one who might be dying
) with one of my males, Jack. Well, its been two months. Only two survived that breeding due to Jack not taking care of them at all - i was lucky to have 2 live - but one was always a runt. The bigger one, who has always been bigger and seemingly happier, i determined to be a female because of the ovipositor spot. I'm having trouble with the runt, though. It's a solid white, so i cant tell if theres a spot, though im nearly sure there is NOT one. i also wonder if perhaps because he is a runt that it hasnt developed yet? He's quite small in comparison to his female sibling, who, i should add, would attack him(i call it a he, for now) when they were in the same container.
He's very small so his fins, if he is a male, wouldnt be growing just yet i'd presume.
Any ideas on how to determine if he's really a male or if he's female? (i probably should stop calling it a he
)
do you know if it would still have an ovipositer spot, even if its a runt?
luckily now that his female sibling is gone, he seems happier. He seemed terrified of her and yet always acted depressed when their containers were put too far apart. weird little "guy" (hopefully).
