Hi, I am very interested in these Arowana fishes  and i am planning on keeping two in a 55 gallon tank together  . I am planning on buying them at about 2 inches. Am I just asking for trouble :dunno: ? Please give me some advices on this. Thank you in advance.

There is NO WAY you can keep two Arowanas in a tank that size. All Arowanas will obtain lengths of 30 inches, and they're growth rate is extremely fast. A 2" Arowana would outgrow that tank in a few months, as they can grow up to an inch a month. A minimum tank size for one fish would be 250-300 gallons for two fish 400+ gallons.

As Ryan said you shouldnt even consider keeping even one arowana unless you have a tank of at least 100 gallons to start with and will be able to upgrade to a 300 gallon tank within 2 years.

eeee yeah i agree they grow damn big and need a small pond to live happily, so 2 in a 55 g is pretty rough

I would not recommend Arowana's for anyone until they've got years of fishkeeping experience and some basic knowledge of Arowanas needed to raise them properly. Plus all signs point to Arowanas needing huge financial and time budgets in order to keep them healthy. I don't want to think about the costs for housing and feeding arowana

They are beautiful fish though

Don't buy Arowanas. It's not a aquarium fish.
This my feeling also , most of us can't fit furniture in our houses , no less a 100 to 300 , 400gallon aquarium .
look around for something more suitable for your 55 hung, there are many options .

Hey, thanks alot for the reply!

This kinda suck. I also have a 90 gallon, but that is being occupied by osars. Even at the size of a 90 gallon, that tank is pretty darn big. In fact, it was the biggest that PetMart had to offer. I don't even know where i would be able to purchasd a 300 gallon tank, more the less, where I would put such a tank. I guess i have to rethink this out and go with dicus or something. But they really are cool looking fish. Thanks again

Try a Butterflyfish. They look similar but stay 4 inches. Much better fish than an Arrowana.
