Poor Hermie the Betta bit the dust a month ago  ...but alas I must move on. He happily lived in a 2.5 gallon tank w/filter and heater, plus a fake plant and a couple of small pillers to swim around.

I'd like to restock this with something other than bettas...problem is, what? There's room for only a couple of fish....any fish that do well in pairs? My last several fish were bettas so I'd like to try something different, and I don't have any money to spring for a larger tank for schoals of fish....any suggestions?

You can try stocking it with some neons or platies. Tetras are good too. Not to mention Guppies, those are great, especially if you want Guppy fry and so on.

I disagree

No tetra would do well in a 2.5g, and livebearers would overrun your tank in a matter of months.

Go for african dwarf frogs instead

P.T.

African dwarf frogs would be great! Or perhaps some ghost shrimp would be fun as well. I tend to agree that most fish won't be very happy living in such a small tank.
