16L Pico Reef

after a long absence here I am here to update! the tank is still up and running and has endured a move of house, didn't loose anything though :)
moved in december, up until then it had fresh presalted water once a week and RO topups if/when needed, since the move it was slightly neglected on the waterchange front as my LFS is miles away and im not driving atm, however everything has seemed to really flourish on just topups and less frequent water changes! anyway enough waffle, here are the pics, enjoy, comment :) matt

Wow that has really filled out nicely!

May need to prune the Xenia soon (grows like a weed that stuff!)

yeah it does tend to take over a bit, have cut it back a since those pics and the green plant type thing grows rediculously quick! will prune some more and retake pics. currently stocking one green chromis who seems pretty happy

bearing in mind the xenia was a tiny piece bought for £2 at my lfs i think i did quite well

Wow, that is a very different tank from the last update. Glad to see you back and glad to see the tank is still running.

:good:

thanks, it's very crowded at the minute due to mainly the pulsing taking ower everything! I'll trim it back this week and get new pics up :)
I'm most impressed with the GSP at the front which has spread well from the tiny piece it grew from. i managed to get lots of freebees going into my LFS when they were cleaning out their tanks, just a few heads of different things which i glued to the front rock.

It's a very nice tank. You've gotten some nice growth out of your corals. It's been good for you that your tank is mostly softies, if I'm not mistaken?

What's your current regimen, I know you've been lax, but I'd like to know what you're doing?

L

thanks, i hear your tank is a bit of a ball ache maintenance wise, when I was living in plymouth I was adding an all in one coral feed however I don't have that now i've moved.
yeah all are softies now, I accidently killed the Hammerhead :(

Basically I have 2x 11w arc pods both are on for 8hrs and one for 10 so there is an hour of half light morning and night.
I did have cheato on a reverse light cycle in the filter but now there is some growing in the tank :)
apart from that, food for the fish every other day and FW topoffs that's litterally all i've been doing! lol

look at all this stuff I pulled out of my tank!!

now you can see more of what i'm working with, although everything is in! I went a bit Chuck Norris on the pulsing xenia, it sort of leaches off the other corals, nasty weed like stuff!

terrible phone pics i know, decent pics when it all comes out :)

Yes, growing lps and sps in a pico makes for ball aching maintenance. Not that I'd know, having no balls myself, so we'll just say back breaking. LOLOL I don't dose anything other than the aquarium salt. I also do the opposite photoperiod for my refugiums. That has worked well for me. Cheato is a weed.

That's a great light for softies. :good:

So you've seen my tanks, huh... And yet... I've not seen you comment on them... :shifty: If you have, then I apologize, I've been busy with finals and forget things.

LOL, just teasing.

haven't seen your tanks just your comments on other threads, like I said I've been off the forum for a while :)

lol i went through your threads last night and now I want another Pom Pom crab and another Duncan, both didn't enjoy the house move :(

after trimming all that out of the tank yesterday my GSP havent come out this morning :(

I love my pompom crab, his named Armand, and he is known as the stud of the reef cause of his sexy nems. I also enjoy my Duncan. He is a happy coral.

Give the gsp time, they may sulk for a spell if something has happened in the tank. Mine sometimes sulk for a week. Try a turkey baster and gentle blow away debris from the mat. It sometimes gets filled with gunk and the gsp don't like that.

yeah, hopefully it'll come out again soon, could it be the tank is a little warm? its at 27.5deg C right now, took a better pic

I want to get the zoas to fluores a bit more so thinking of getting some blue LEDs, Iv heard Pinks are good too, can anyone recomend a led strip?

Where do you get your supplies in the UK. I'm US, so I only know US vendors. If you send me a link to the website where you'd buy your supplies, I can have a looksy and make a recommendation from that.

Yeah, what is the color temp configuration for the arc pods? It looks like two daylights to me? or maybe a half/half and a daylight. Why not try first an actinic and a daylight?
