159l - Piranha's?

Are you referring to Red Bellied Piranha? If so I would suggest only one for a 42 gallon, 55 gallons for two. They are cool to feed, but they are not really that aggressive, it can be hard to see them n the act of tearing apart fish or what not.

Don't Red Bellies get like 1-2 feet? I think a 55 is a little small for something like that?

Red Belly piranha (Pygocentrus nattereri) usually get to 10-11" in aquariums. Of course, there are exceptions both larger and smaller but in general. If healthy they'll get 7-8" the first year.

I agree with the fact that a 55g is too small even for one. I would suggest a minimum of 75g for 1-3 rbp's.

Thank you for all of the help, but i have decided to go marine, sorry for the trouble. The Piranha i am looking for seems to be too hard to get a hold of, once i re-home my tropical fish, i will begin creating a reef tank, expect a journal. :hyper:

No problem at all and don't apologize for going a different route. I assume that's why you started the thread, to get opinions on whether you should get a piranha or not. You decided not to after taking all the replies into account which is what a responsible fishkeeper would do.

Like i said above, I didn't think you'd be able to get a P. calmoni but I was hoping I was wrong.

Good luck with your sw setup tho! :good:
