Hello :)

Basically got a 35L fish tank the other day and was just wondering if a 150w heater is too powerful for the tank? I've had a look around and its says 50-100w should be used? Got given the heater from a friend so would be nice if i could get out of buying another one ;)

Thanks.

people generally reccomend a min of 1w per litre but more is fine.

Its best to have more heating than less heating.

1w per litre of water, but is more than 3w per litre to much? That's what I'm thinking... :/

thanks for the replies, could I just keep the temp low on the heater as its adjustable?

it wont make any difference, set the temp to what you want it at, all it will do is warm up the water quicker, the thermostat will keep it to tht temp. will prob use less electric as wont need to be on. i have a 150w inline heater on a 25litre tank with no issues.
