150L tank heater recommendation

I have a 150L tank that I need to bring up to 30 degrees because of ich. The heater in it was included when I bought the tank, it's a SuperFish one. Unfortunately I can't get higher than 28 degrees. Tank is now insulated on the bottom, back and 2 sides, lid on top. Heater placed by the filter so the hot water get's dispersed. Thermometer is not faulty as I tested it with 4 different ones so it's not that. Often when I put my hand into the water it actually seems to be rather cold. The little heater light does come on but the temperature of the water is very inconsistent.

What heater would be good here? Ideally it would then need to support my 450L tank once I upgrade but it's not a problem if it can't.

Watt wise I would go for a 200w heater for a 150litre, and for a 450 litre I would put two 200 or 300watt in there (one heater on each end) the brand I like which is available online with adjustable knob is Aquatop, I reccomend an adjustable heater and not a preset for incident where you need to control the temperature for illness prevention

I didn't know there are pre-set heaters! I assumed every single one of them will allow me to change the temp. I shall keep that in mind and I will go nd search for the one you mentioned

My first heater I ever bought was 100w preset to 78 degrees it worked for maintaining temp in a tank that was about 35litre but soon found out it was a waste when I had ich and needed to adjust temps now I know to avoid spending money on a heater that isn't fully functional (I don't know why they make them, actually haha.)

Heaters are the most important piece of equipment in an aquarium. The filter may breakdown with no real issues, but a failed heater overnight that chills the fish could spell their demise. It is worth the money for good heaters.

Eheim Jager heaters have a high reputation. I acquired one last time I needed another heater (replacing a decades-old heater that finally gave out). You set the temp, but calibration can be off by a few degrees; I have mine set to 22C but this keeps the water at 25C and has for months. There are probably other heaters just as reliable, I am only speaking for this brand as I trust it from my own experience and what I've seen online from other aquarists.

I would have a 200w or 250w heater in a 40g (150 liter) tank, which I assume is no longer than 90cm (36 inches). Anything longer or more volume should have two heaters, both 200w. One heater should be positioned next to the filter return so the water is heated as it moves away from this area.

So at the moment I have a 30cm long 300W SuperFish heater and I do have a spare one as well. I wonder if maybe I should just use both on two ends of the tank? I want to buy a proper heater but as a temporary measure until I get the upgrade would this be okay?

Yes, if you can get the temp up and maintain it there, this is OK.

That's wonderful thank you very much. I will give it a go for now just so I can fight the ich in the tank and will start looking around for a decent upgrade as well. I will look into Eheim Jager ones as well
