there is a 130 gallon tank for sale for $60 but it have a crack in the bottom could i use a thick peice of plexiglass or a piece of glass to cover it up then sylicone the glass or plexi to it?

i have a 1/4 inch sheet of plexi and i was wondering if that would work, becuase i dont really want to buy a sheet of glass

thanks

I've never had any luck doing that on all but the smallest of tanks. If you really want to fix that one, I would cut the bottom pane off and replace it. Thats not a beginners project IMO. And it does need to be glass, silicone and plexi don't work very well.

ok thanks for the reply, i was though that i could get this fixed just by syliconing a peice of glass over the crack, becuase i was looking for a big tank for cheap.

anyways thanks

Depends on how bad the crack is and how brave you are.

I had a crack in my 6x2x2 from moving it, so I siliconed in a patch of glass just over the crack on the inside, and a second base underneath so as all pressure can pass around the crack. Touch wood it is all fine some 2-3 years later.
