I bought a 125gl (6' x 18" x 24") aquarium back in August and I still haven't really decided what I want to put in there. Right now there are two 5" Satanoperca jurupari and one 3" Datnioides pulcher. I keep coming up with different ideas, but haven't picked one yet and would like some advice from you guys. The stocking would have to include three fancy plecos (see profile for their exact names), but doesn't have to include the three fish currently in there. These are the different stocking ideas I was thinking of:

1. A large exodon group (20-25) and maybe a Gymnotus species.
2. 6 Geophagus sp. Red Head Tapajos and assorted catfish (Jaguar maybe and other wood cats)

Well, the reason I didn't choose number 2, is because I couldn't find anyone selling a group of juvenile Geophagus. I really don't know what I want, because I really like the oddball species, but the majority of the really interesting ones get too large. Anyway, I would like to have oddballs and I really like groups of fish... but it's not mandatory.

Fire away!

I'm unfamiliar with the fishes you mentioned. I originally had a 55 gallon tank with 2 angels, 5 clown loaches, harlequin rasboras, & an L-18 Gold Nugget pleco. The loaches were getting bigger, so I upgraded to a 125 gallon tank. It was looking empty and tried some rainbow fish as middle dwelling fish, along with the angels. I decided to give discus a try and liked them. I got several discus and a few angels were donated to me. I also added (2) L-260 Queen Arabesque plecos and will be adding (2) L-18 Gold Nugget plecos, due to my favorite one jumping out. :(

Well if your siamese tigers going to stay in there for life, then that kinda kicks out the idea of lots of exodons, they get only arround 4" if Im right...If it will only be in that tank for a year or two (very slow growers as Im sure you know) then they would be ok, but at 10/12" they would be snapped up pretty easily I would imagine. Also I though exodons were best in a species tank?
Lots of wood cats jaguars like you said are good, aswell as more common things like Trachelyopterichthys taeniatus and Trachelyopterus galeatus.
If your keeping the dat in there for life, id go with lima shovelnoses, ornate pims etc, then bichir species, then maybe severums, geos etc for mid tank swimmers.

Thanks for your replies! CatfishAreCool: I wasn't sure if I was going to keep the pulcher in there for life, but I think that I have been leaning back towards the Geophagus group, along with bichers, asst. cats, etc. I think I might convert my 55gl into an exodon tank, instead, since the majority of the fish in there now are going to be moved into the 125.

Oh yeah, here's a pic, just for kicks and giggles:

I just picked up a weird cat today (see Other Catfish forum for the post). It's a neat little booger and I think I will continue to collect rare and weird fish, instead of going the exodon route.;)

Sounds like a plan then. Ill have a look at the cat now.
Tank looks really good, like the way that the lights broken up.
