My latest effort.

I'm all inspired from the recent festival...

It's got potential I think. I'll be getting some narrow fern, bolbitis and Rotala 'green' from Tropica.

There's some L. aromatica and E. stellata stems to fill in background (thanks, Clive).

I also managed to rescue some C. balansae from my 125 litre (major disaster - total crypt melt due to CO2 stoppage whilst away).

The glosso is left from the Iwagumi and is helpful for biomass. I'll replace it eventually for something lower maint.

Tank - 120x40x45cm (216 l.)
Light - 4 x 54w HO T5 Arcadia Plant Pro
CO2 - Pressurized 2 BPS into 1550lph external filter
Ferts - DIY macros, Tropica Plant Nutrition+
Substrate - EcoComplete

Anyway, I'm happy with it so far. It's still early days -

wow, amazing java ferns O_O at least thats what i think they are.

i hope mine gets that big :3

It does look brilliant, plus you have a nice glosso carpet to start of with.

Although I know you will be changing it, my first thoughts is that it looks too symetrical and perhaps the glosso carpet should not extend completely to both sides but concentrated more in the middle as to draw the two areas of Java fern together. It will be interesting to see how this goes, I know it will be great.

Hi George,
Looking really good! I really like the layout, I see the point about the symmetricalnessy (made that one up lol) I like it though.

The one criticism I would have, I would like to see the hardscape bits moved back a bit if poss, they look they are a bit too close to the front glass. I personally would move them back.

I love the festival for inspiration! That and the cheap stuff.

Lisa

Looks good, where is the orange skull going to fit in? ;)

PS Are you back at work on Montag?

Hey George. wow that grew mighty fast. i assume you got the tank "with carpet" from jeremy. (not that thats cheating as you planted it in the first place lol). i bet your loving the extra room to play with. opens up so many possibilities.

How are you finding the arcadia tubes? i will be buying another 54W twin T5 HO Ballast next weekend and need to decide on tubes!

love the glasswear as well. stupid question of the day....is the glass funnel the intake? i always thought they were output's but after seeing neils link on UKAPS to the youtube ADA gallery vids the close up of the funnel on one tank looks like it's taking water in not pushing it out. if this is the case woudn't the fish just get sucked up and blended! i'm all confused lol.

Arcadia T5 are nice. Good growth and colour, if you don't mind a little bit of purple hue. I don't mind it at all. I'll be trying out the new JBL T5s soon 4000K and 9000K. Giesemann Midday 6000K are supposed to be great too.

The lily pipe is the outlet. The 'suction' effect is caused by a vortex due to the hydrodynamics. It's really cool to watch actually.

Corin - The wood is 'Sumatra' from Unipac, a wholesaler to the trade. Some Maidenhead Aquatics outlets stock it.

The 125 l. will be an experimental tank used to test out new and potential new plants from Tropica. It's a hard life... :D

I'll vary growing conditions to see how the plants do. I'm quite excited about this actually. To be the first in the UK to get hold of these plants is an honour for me. I can't reveal more details (species) I'm afraid.

You're so lucky, I can't wait to see Tropicas new arrivals.

Wow thats one hell of a carpet and some mighty ferns  That wood covered with flame moss would look great.

Looks good, George! :good: I prefer asymetrical setups, but as always, the plants, hardscape, and growth are top rate! It's a good tank size for plant experimentation.

Looking forward to seeing it develop.

Nice George, does look a bit strange with such developed gloss and java ferns and very little on the wood. I've gotten used to seeing tanks develop, seem strange seeing an 'instant' scape, you skipped a good few weeks with this scape! But as you say early days, no doubt you'll develop it some, over the coming weeks/months.

BTW how you finding the tank size? The largest tank I can get is 4foot but was looking at a rena, which would be near 400lt, wondering if the extra height might be difficult to fill. Wondered what your thoughts were on a lower 4ft?

Sam :)
