Hi
I am waiting for a delivery of an Eheim Classic 2213 External Filter and wish to remove my internal filters but have been reading topics about too much flow being a problem.
Can anyone advise on the best way to switch over from internal to external and if I can adjust the flow to an acceptable level.
I have 2 internal filters at the momnent and was thinking of removing the good bacteria medium from 1 filkter after I remove it and put this into the new Eheim Classic 2213 External Filter and run 1 internal and the external for a while together  but am unsure how long I could do this for.
I have 3 guppys and 3 platy and 1 plec.
The only otyhe rproiblem is I have a blackmoor in there as well which I got initially when I was starting off and didnt really know they were slightly incompatible.
Apart from the blackmoor constantly pooping, he is about 5 inches long now, I have no water problems to worry about as far as I can see.

Well the filter arrived and I have removed my fluval filter and put the sponges from there into the new external tank to help coloniseing bacteria in the new sponges.
I still have my Fluval U3 running alongside the external tank and am going to keep both for about a month and then remove the U3.
Any thoughts fom anyone

Spot on. If you can cram any filter media from the U3 into the new Eheim, then do that as well.

Tnx for replying.
I actually meant "external cannister filter"

I really wouldn't worry. I have a 2213 on a 100l tank and it really wanted the extra flow half of the time.
