Hi, just bought a second hand tank that came with a gorgeous 11"-12" plec. Although he seems happy enough and has spent the majority of his life in this tank, I'm pretty sure he'd be happier in something bigger than a 180 litre tank. If he does indeed need something bigger, what sort of size tank should I be re-homing him in? Cheers, Andy

I've got an 80g tank, and i would consider this to be too small
I would love to have 1 of these fish as they are lovely, but i wouldn't have the space for 1 :(
I would say atleast a 5ft tank, preferably bigger so that he has enough room :good:

a 9'*3'*3' would be the minimum I would keep one in, they can get to 2 feet so will need plenty of space.

As I feared then. He is enormous, so it was fairly obvious, but I don't have any experience of keeping plecs. It is a pity I won't be able to keep him though as he's a hit with my 2 year old boy. Thinks he's a shark! lol

Found a new home for him within the family. A well kept six foot tank which will be twice the size he's used to. Once again, thanks for your help and advice. :)

Hi Shogunblue24 :)

Why not look into getting a bristlenose pleco? They stay small and will probably make your son just a happy as a big one. The male is the big one with the whiskers.

Not sure what I'll be getting as now I've emptied my tank I have the pleasure of re-stocking it. I'm into smaller fish generally, but I was surprised how taken my lad was with the big fish.
