10g stocking options

Hello! i have a cycled non live planted 10g tank that currently has a betta. and i jus wanted to know your guys opinions on what i am thinking about stocking options. I also have a cycled 5g(not live planted). for the 10 g tank, i want to put pygmy (dwarf) corys and some white cloud mountain minnows, but dont know how many of each? any advice on the stocking and how many? for the 5g i think im gonna put the betta back in there (as it was previously there in the 5g) ,and maybe add some ghost shrimp in there in the future, (had them before with the same female betta, it worked out perfectly) so... basic overview on stocking: 10g: pygmy corys, and white cloud mountain minnows (need help to know how many or if you guys think its a good idea) 5g: betta and some ghost shrimp, Thanks in advance!

What temp were you thinking? The pygmy cories need warmer water than the WCMM are generally comfortable with. You could try 73°F, but that is on the lower end for the cories. You might try a slightly smaller fish, too. My WCMM did a lot better in my 20 gallon than the 10.

first, thanks for the reply, ive read that the temp for pygmy corys should be around 71 to 78 so itll probably be around 71-75. my room is usually cold so ill have the heater set to that, what other fish do u suggest instead of WCMM? Thanks!

Green Kubotai Rasbora are pretty small, or Ember Tetra as a group of 8 or 10 would to good in a 10 gallon. If you have hard water Endler fish would be good.

are these fish including the pymgy corys? cuz i would like for them to also be in the tank

Yes, all three would do well with the cories (not all together, though, lol).

lol, so would WCMM be totally out of the question? ive read alot of good things about these guys and how they are hardy fish and in general i just like the way they look

You could try them in it. They are really good fish (I have a dozen in my 29 subtropical). But it will be a balancing act for temp. Too high and the WCMM burn themselves out, too low and the cories get lethargic. I would shoot for 73 if you try it.

ive seen youtube videos about WCMM going to the temp as high as 78, but im not sure, still new to fishkeeping lol. idk if i wanna risk that, any other fish u recommend besides those 3 as im pretty sure those fish arent really around unless i buy them online

Other might have suggestions as well. This is just from my personal experience. Perhaps start a post asking if anyone has successfully kept their WCMM at higher temps?

WCMMs have evolved over million years to suffer a wide variety of water temps. Cold winters hot summers and a two week cold water surge during summer when the snow on the white cloud mountains melts and surges through the areas river systems. Though they’re actually extinct there now due to pollution....though have been “discovered” in a seperate river system a couple of hundred miles away by the local authorities after the WWF and various western green peace type organisations started sticking it to the Chinese govts pollution policies......yeah right!

They won’t thrive in a year round temp at the very top or beyond their range. In my tank they share with Medaka and guppies iit’s mainly unheated and seems to remain at 18-20c becos of central heating during winter which is middling enough for all imho.
We should try to keep fish in their temp mid zones.
Mine charge around the tank like mad things and I sometimes think they’d be best suited to a longer tank ie 4’/1200mm.

Research all your fishes requirements on seriouslyfish.com water temps, alkalinity, tank size, food, plants etc are all on there. Written by fish science types and not YouTubeRus using nothing but hearsay and their own tanks as research.
