Well, getting a 100 USG for Christmas. So, gonna need a plan instead of how all my other tanks were and see something and go from there. I just want to plan out a beautiful tank full of activity. Excuse me if I ever bombard you guys with questions. So, I want a large, peaceful fish as a center piece and decided on a Green Severum. I also want Denison Barbs to counter act the large, Green Severum. Also want a good amount of Bottom Dwellers. Also, the dimesion are 48x18x26 (LxWxH). Gonna have sand also.

Plan so far
1x Green Severum
6x Denison Barbs
2x Raphael Catfish
1x Farowella Catfish
4x Redhead Tapajos
8x Bosemani Rainbows
8x Columbian Tetras

Any good Bottom Dwellers that grow no more than 6 inches? Also, I want a school of a tetra that is bluish in color. Would Buenos Aires do?

Edit 1: Gonna have 2 Raphaels, just realized these catfish will work.
Also, a Farowela species. Will get what'll be available.

Edit 2: Well, after Minx suggested Geos and Rainbows, will add 4 Geos and 8 Bosemani Rainbows. Geo species depends on LFS' stock. Will consult you guys with their species available.

Edit 3: Going for a group of 4 Redhead Tapajos. Thx Wills for the suggestion.

For bottom dwelling cichlids, geophagus species, pindare, tapajos etc, especially as your having sand as a substrate, or corydoras as a large group. Other dithers could be colombian tetras, but I use rainbows, now those are seriously beautiful blue fish, particularly lacustris rainbows :)

Thx Minx. Would Bosemani do? Love ow they change during the day. Would a school of 8 Columbian and then a school of 8 Bosemani? Well, will consider Geos if my LFS gets any in. Last time they had only on Geo. Surinamesis I think. It was also alone, no one else was in the compartments with him. Will wait for more Geos though. Thx though.

8 colombian and 6 - 8 boesemani would be fine with your planned stocking :good: Remember its the male boesemani that have the lovely colouration, but you will need a couple of females to get them to show off their real colours.

I'll have a ratio of 3:7 with females being 3. Will seem to be a good set-up. Need some more species. Hoping for something real active. Want a good top dweller now. Also, want a good, unique, bottom dweller that will be something someone will notice quickly. I'm looking at some oddballs for that. Would anyone usggest Black Ghost Knifefish for that area?

A quick issue that I see with keeping bosemani rainbows with geos and Columbian tetras is that the bosemani are hard water high pH fish in their natural habitat while geos and almost all tetras are low pH soft water fish. Although you may like the way the fish look together, getting suitable water for both fish in the same tank could be quite problematic.

True, but I keep all mine in the same ph, same hardness as I never adjust mine, not had a problem, but as you say, their preferred ranges do differ.

Agreed with Minxy about the Geos IMO you want to stick to ones that get between 6-8 inches for a group of 4 so avoid like the Braziliensis and the Surinimensis as they get to about 10/12. I think the redheads would look fantastic for your tank and would go well against your denison barbs :) nice sounding tank so far :good:

I think a PH of 7.0 will go good. Will try to get some Red Heads. Hopefully won't have same problem as Cichlid_Crazy. I don't want commons but, I do need to leave them space as we have 5 of varying sizes in our pond and they come in for winter. Gonna do a real qucik cycle using my 3 HOB and I have them collecting bacteria as we speak. Any other Bottom dwellers? Maybe 4 Clown Loaches?

How about Hoplos? There are a few different ones I really like the flag tailed ones. Personally I think clowns need a 6ft eventually and at the slow growth rates the other fish would zoom past them in size.

Ok, avoid clowns in the long run. Hoplos? Gonna have to try them. What about Black Ghost Knife like I asked a few posts ago?
