Nice unuasual shaped tank, does it give the crazy fairground effect in real life too? It's pretty cool though, like it.

Could you get a closeup of the shrimp?

It looks like a Macrobrachium spp., and if it's a species bigger than M.lanchesteri (which aren't the most common), it has potential to eat guppies and possibly even get to about 30cm.

For example, I've seen pets@home sell M.rosenbergii as 'freshwater shrimp' saying they stay small and are fine with all fish, yet I've had to deal with a couple of people who have come into the lfs with the adults in a bucket of water looking to get rid of the fish eater after losing lots of fish.

The shrimp were only labelled as "freshwater shrimp"
Anyway, a day after this post began, both shrimps were dead (3 weeks after introducing them - close to 4 now) And the fish are fine - also i checked stats and ammonia and nitrite are 0ppm...
Got any ideas as to why :S

Traces of copper in the water from plants or maybe even a water storage tank before it gets to the taps could kill the shrimp but not the fish.

But from the picture of the shrimp, I think it may have some sort of bacterial infection or something, it looks quite cloudy rather than see-through.
I've noticed this with red-nose shrimp and Macrobrachium spp. shrimp, if they have a cloudy appearance rather than see-though at the lfs, they have a very low survival rate.

the shrimps were always see through - i watched them intently for ages! they ate well and loved the tank - then after 3 weeks they were both dead in two days!
Do you think it was starvation ? i havent got any more pics of the shrimps - though since adding the shrimp i added 8 guppies in 2 weeks. they are really really greedy... and the tank hasnt got any algae now.. so maybe they werent getting food???

Nice tank.

Were did you get it from?

Pets at home (the demons who have had like 300 pounds from me in total for fish related stuff - quite a fair amoutn when ur 17 lol)

This tank was only 99 pounds though :D (with stand, light ) :)
