Her birthday was last week she just became 6 six years old well today we bought the tank and right now its cycling. I have a question do I have to wait 6 weeks. I dont got a kit but im using filter water does that matter. :/ :/

Hi 55gallondude :)

Take as long as it needs and do the job right. The last thing you would want to happen is to put the fish in the tank too soon and have them die. That would make her so sad. :-(

If she is so excited that she cannot wait, you might be able to make room in one of your tanks for a few fish of hers that she can watch. Then when the tank is ready she can watch you move them in.

If you don't have a test kit, I'd strongly urge you to get one. There's no way to know if the tank is cycled without it, other than regular trips to the LFS for testing.

Big Al's has the Aquarium Pharm. kit for cheap ($19 after shipping). They are usually around $25-$30 at most LFS.
