the brown algae is normal for a new tank. It should go away as it matures.

a 40W bulb is going to produce more algae than a 26W no?

well .... maybe you are right ..... but so many people seem to think that I need blue wavelength, that I became concerned. I did see one person on here who uses a 6500k for his refugium and zoanthum and said it was ok .... but that's just one person .....

yep ... you are right ... a lot of the brown algae has disappeared and now I have a small patch of green algae -- 1/2 inch long.

It was just a problem that I had because the tank was new (evidently).

I may try out the 40w fixture -- just to see how it looks --- but the light is much cooler (460nM and 10000k).
