Totally new to this forum and an opening just became available in a 10 gallon tank in beautiful (ok thats a stretch) Mesa AZ for the right fish.

So question the first- Are there appropriate Cichlids for a 10 gallon tank?

Question the second- My wife would prefer the very colorful variety is that also possible?

Question the thrice- Is this even in the right forum or should I be doing it in the other cichlid forum.

Txs in advance for any advice

Unfortunately there are no colorful Africans that I can think of that would work in a 10 gallon tank. Shell dwellers are about it, and while they are full of character they are lacking in color.

You might be able to house Apistogrammas, Kribensis, or Rams in a tank that size.

Rick if I were you id check out rams for the 10 they are colorful but would do alot better in a 20 gallon. Kribs or the shell dwellers would be your other options but they too would honestly do better in a larger tank.

To me the rams are the most colorful in the bunch and look great in a planted tank.

For a ten gallon the only fish really suited for it are shell dwellers.
