10 Gallon Anacharis Tank

Hi I'm planning on using my 10 gallon tank that's lying around as a cranker of anacharis. I plan on feeding it to my rotkeil severum, as well as using it later in a fry tank.

I wish it could be done with the barest of needs(See below) Could this work?

Tank: 10 gallon(45x28x35cm)

Light: 32 watts I think

Water: PH 7.2

Decor: None

Filter: None. Or would it do better with at least water flow?

Additions: Plant fertilizer

Please correct any bad places. Just don't be too harsh

i think it would work pretty well. maybe a little stronger lights. also plants like a little water movement. if you have no filter, do a small water change every other day. but like i said, it only has to be small

32w over 10g? Thats over 3WPG which is more then enough should work fine, you dont necessarily have to use a filter, id imagine a powerhead would work fine.

Keep the temperature cooler in this growing tank, anacharis (egeria densa) likes cooler temperatures. It'll grow in warmer water, but you'll get better, denser stalks if the water temperature hovers at the late 60s and lower 70s in degrees farenheit. In warmer waters, the growth can be vigorous, but more stringy. Your lighting is fine (Egeria densa does not demand much light), though I agree a filter would be a great idea to increase flow. Sometimes Egeria densa can experience die-off, pollutting the water.

Thanks for the replies. I was debating whether to add a hang on filter or not(TBH, not ) because it is the quietest filter I can get.

I wasn't planning on a heater anyway; I for some reason love fish and plants that live in cool water.

Actually, even without the heater, my house is warm so I really doubt the water will get below 24'C(Bad). But can they tolerate changes in temperature well? Because once there was a bad case of fluctuant temperature, where the temperature in my old 4 foot 72 gallon tropheus tank the temperature dropped from 28'C to 20'C in one night! Maybe I could use a heater, and put it at 20'C?

Also, do to change of mind, I was wondering whether anacharis also grows well planted in soil, whether it benefits from it, and how to plant it.
