I have a few fish tanks and decided to set up a 10 gallon planted.

I used Onyx sand as substrate and white sand on the top....2 inches of onyx and 1 inch of sand.

I have a nice carpet of microsword going and a good crop of hairgrass. I took a few buds off one of my bigger tanks Amazon swords and they are taking off nicely.

Would addition of CO2 really make a difference in a small 10gallon?

Light is about 2 WPG, if that helps and the tank has been cycled.

1 Male Betta in the tank, that's it........for now.

Hi,

I have a 4 gallon nano which I add CO2 too, the plants dont care how big the tank is, if you want them to grow in a high-tech tank of any size you're going to need to add CO2.

Hope this helps

Yeh lots of people on here get really good results with DIY set-ups, cant say i've tried them but give it a go. Would keep an eye on the CO2 levels for the first week of so, just until to get an idea of how 'good' your co2 production is!

I have a 10 gal. with DIY CO2. I use a bottle that has been on a bigger tank for half a week and it it rotated to the 10 gal and changed weekly. So the bottle starts on a 55 gal for a week, then swapped to the 10 gal for a week then dumped. I have 65 watts CF, no added ferts, no algae and incredible plant growth.
