Hi all.

Getting ready to set my son up with another tank, 10 gal one this time. I'm very
handy with wood and tools, I do woodworking for fun. I was thinkin of making one
for the tank but still being winter temps here, can't get into the garage to build.

I was thinkin bout buying one also. But I'd like to know how high I can go and still
be safe. I was thinkin of going 36" for the stand with 16" deep.

Ok, main question: What are some of your stand sizes for 10-15 gal tanks? Also,
does anyone have plans or kjnow of a web site with plans for building one?

It's not that I cant make my own, its just that I'd like some ideas.

Thanks

36" may be a bit tall, depending on how sturdy the stand is. Remember, your center of gravity is going to be pretty high.

Most bought stands, I think, are close to "standard" table/desk height, of 28" (plus or minus one).

The two stands I have are 27" and 28" tall.

I don't know if you're still looking for a stand (just joined the forum), but for my office 10 gal., I bought one of those "knock-down" cabinets (Sauder, I think) at a local department store. I replaced the cardboard back with some 3/16" hardboard, and ran a piece of u-channel along the inside of the top to keep it from bowing under the weight of the tank. It's been set up for about ten years, and no problems at all. Cheap, good-looking solution, with out-of-sight storage underneath!

I can send you a pic if you'd like.
