today i added a second yo-yo loach and the first one suddenly became the most vicious fish alive. he bits the other one ferociously. is there anything i can do to calm him down? i am afraid he will kill the new one. thanks

i just rearranged the decorations and added a little bit of aquarium salt to help reduce stress. is there anything else i can do? there still vicious.

I've had some success in the past with removing the original fish to another tank for a day or so. This allows the newcomer to "claim" a stake in the tank. Sometimes, not always, when you put the old fish back in (and change the arrangement of the ornaments when he's OUT of the tank) he'll behave. Not always.....

well first thing yo-yo loaches like most loaches are scaleless and dont' tolerate salt well so I'd try to remove it.

I'm not sure why the one yo-yo would be so territorial they're generally very peaceful they just get a little hyperactive during feeding time. def re-arrange their homes a bit and try leaving the lights off for periods of time to help them adjust. I'm having to do that with my new gouramis. Though its a delicate balance between leaving lights off and killing my plants.

Try to isolated the aggressive one to calm him down, i had a problem with an aggressive fish, and i secluded him in a brreding net, for a day, and then let him go and he really calmed down

Good luck trying to net that yo-yo if you have a well planted tank.

They are crafty little buggers. :shifty:
