if it were my tank i would plant it heavily with mosses and ferns etc and have a little colony of cherry shrimp! It would look great!

I would not put a Betta in that size tank, it's just too small. By the time you put your heater, filter and some plants in there will be no room left for the fish! You are probably best going for a couple of shrimp instead.
