Thanks for the replies.   I'm getting really irritated now. I have took the whole thing apart and added ptfe tape or rubber bands to all seals and its still leaking. I must be doing something wrong but I can't work out what.   I followed the instructions online although they are very vague only...

Well the nitrate minus and nitrazorb has worked and for the first time the nitrates are between 5 and 10. woo hoo!   Some pics of the tank today            

  No the lampeyes are Micropanchax macrophthalmus, no bigger then an inch fully grown. They are upper water peaceful shoaling fish so are fine with the danio which reside in the bottom half of the tank.   I doubt there are 30 danio left, i would guess at 20 but impossible to count without...

Done an 80% water change today and added nitra zorb to my external filter. Also added Tetra nitrate minus. Thank for your replies.   Luckily I love Oto's and have been waiting for the tank to establish before I got some.    I went and got 2 today, nice fat ones and they are happily munching on the diatoms.
