18 gallon might be a little small for a starter tank, unless you are ready too keep up the water quality :S You might want to start with at least a 30g. as for clowns and damsels, i don't know how many damsels you could put in that tank with your clown as damsels are known to be pretty...

depending on the quality of the Live Sand you will definitely have some die off, maybe not much. But it will help you cycle your tank :nod: Edited to add, if you are going to put LR in the tank as well I would put it in at the start. If you get uncured LR later you'll have to cure it, might...

as long as your SG is where you want it you can go ahead and put your sand and LR in there and start cycling your tank :hey:

FishOwner, How long have you had your 75g up and running? I didn't think a Yellow Tang, Picasso Trigger, and Niger Trigger would all get along in that small a tank :*)

Don't forget you'll have to replace the filters and such once in a while

lol, guess i didn't think about it that way. I just thought it might be boring to focus on 1 fish when there is so many different types you could incorporate with it. As for the dog and cat reference...I don't know anyone with 8 dogs in their kitchen, and people with multiple dogs usually have...

I was just wondering what the draw to bettas? I'm a petsitter and went to walk a dog today and his owner had 7-10 jars with a betta in each one, plus another decent sized tank with loaches and ish, but i wondered why someone would want 10 jars with 1 fish in each of them... :*)

i agree you'd want to wait till after you got the R/O system. Other than that i think you'd want to put the water in the tank first and mix the salt in it. Measure the SG and such. Some people then put the substrate in, some put the LR in first...I put the substrate in first then the LR...

I don't know about valentini puffers (size, aggression, etc...) but I don't think a dwarf lion will "fit" in a 20g tank, especially if the puffer takes to mipping at the lion's spines and such. Also, you would want to think about that bioload. Both those messy meat eaters would wreak havok on...

i run mine full blast, the more pressure you get the more output you get...My R/O is rated around 110gph and only produces 3gph or so at full blast. also, i don't know if trickling will produce the pressure needed to push the water through all the membranes sufficiently...who knows :/

yes, hermits and shrimp and such will molt, that's what you are seeing if all are accounted for. my maroons both have a little bit of black markings on their fins too, have for a long time. nothing seems wrong with them. :fun:

i don't remember which it is, but i heard bioballs can add to a nitrite or nitrate problem, so it could be those

I agree you need to use R/O water...other than that the only thing i would add is I don't think a Yellow Tang would work well in a 55g tank

i would suggest you read up on nano-tanks before you start. Most people learn everything with big tanks before they venture into the smaller ones. :S

what 2 types of damsels do you have in your tank that are comfortable in a 10G? They are agressive and i think a 10G tank would be too small for 2 damsels :crazy:

lol, why do you keep calling it a yellow tank? it's a tang :P Nice tank (aquarium) though. Won't the horseshoe crab get waaaaaaay too big though?

I think gobies get something like 2 or 3 inches long and i doubt they actually produce much waste so i think you would be ok with 2. But I think i've heard that they will fight others in their species in smaller tanks so maybe go with 1 clown goby and 1 firefish...

first of all, what are the dimensions of your tank? you say 75 gallons, but a longer tank is more suitable for tangs than a cube because they are straight line swimmers and needs lots of swimming space. Also, i don't think tangs of the same body type get along at all. The Sohal will get...
