    Sometimes I Feel Like I Can't Win

Hello, Sorry to read your misfortune.   do you have access to a dissolved oxygen test kit? you would need to take a reading just before the lights of the tank on (before photosynthesis begins) and one later on.   When the lights switch off plants absorb oxygen and release CO2. It is possible...

    Fluval 306 Filter Media...!

looks good to me, I wouldn't use carbon personally unless I needed to remove chemicals/meds from the the tank, but that's a personal choice. I choose peat pellets instead to acidify & obtain a slight tea clour to the water. each to his own

    Eheim 2010 Or 2012 Filter?

the bubbling reduces the availability of CO2 for plants to absorb/use by accelerating the gas exchange processes at the surface. If you try to increase the CO2 concentration in the water (by liquid addition or with a pressurised bubbling system) an air pump will reduce/negate the effectiveness...

Substrate Heating - Is It Enough?

I have a 100W unit on a 240L tank. it does not seem sufficient to keep the water warm, so I use a 300w inline heater instead. Re plant health, I can't see the difference with the previous tank I had, so wouldn't use it again

    Pest Snail?

In my experience if you can see two, you probably have 20 You could throw in a few assassin snails, they look cool and while they propably will not rid you of all your pest snails, they should keep them under control. Other option is to reduce the amount of waste food in your tank

don't know the model from usae, so can't comment on reliability, from the output it should do just fine in your tank, I use a JBL 900 on the same tank as yours. found that the flow was a bit too powerful, so I proceeded to use the spraybar after increasing the size of the holes to reduce the...

What Do I Do Next With Fishless Cycle

Hello, Welcome and congrats on your aquarium Just finished the cycle on my 240L tank. I just kept replenishing the ammonia to 4ppm every day around the same time. Nitrites went off the chart (40ppm+), then dropped off a cliff after 10 days to 0ppm NO2 overnight next task is to cinform this...

Can German Blue Rams Get Acclamated To 7.6Ph And Somewhat Hard Water?

Tried it twice with a pair, having ph of 7.4 - 7.6 and gh = 8 (140ppm) , kh = 10 (217 ppm) and they died in less than three months both times. also they need the water to be very arm (around 30C), which was too warm for the other community fish. trying my luck now with apistos

Slightly Cloudy Water... Day 3 Fishless Cycle... No Ammonia, No Nitrit

Slightly Cloudy Water... Day 3 Fishless Cycle... No Ammonia, No Nitrit

The only thing I can think of is your nitrates and ammonia are used up by a lots and lots of fast growing plants. I guess you could try adding the ammonia and testing every couple of hours to see what happens. (something I'd do out of curiousity)

    Fishless Cycling, Nitrite Levels Insane

Hello, I've started a fishless cycle 10 days ago. The biofilter is happily going through 4 to 5 ppm of ammonia every 24 hours, so so far so good. The levels is topped up daily .
